I love the DLCs. I actually think Vanilla is really good now with all DLCs but its just not my taste because I like my own Continent and I find some religions in ATE more relatable
Dude, just get it when its one sale and get the DLC on sale as well. Steam has a good return policy, give it a shot. I played it and its not bad at all.

It's fun but I think you'd get more replayability from something like CK3. You could always just torrent HOI4 because no one wants to pay for the base game (which is already kinda pricey) along with the bajillion dlcs
I've been playing fallen eagle a lot, I like the rise of islam mechanics a lot the caliphate's super OP, although EVERY time I play as a vassal of rome in the earliest bookmark rome just collapses which is really annoying.
You mean Byzantium? It never Collapses for me when I play but I never play Byzantium. I like to start as a smaller feudal or clan ruler. IMO clan mogs early game or the whole game.
No no I mean the whole roman empire in fallen eagle, whenever I play as a vassal the empire just collapses so I don't get to enjoy rping as a roman vassal
