Does living in a quiet suburb vs a noisy suburb help your mental health

Only issue Is a quiet suburb has less shops and amenities and my mother doesn't drive so it will be difficult to get nice restaurants or special items without using online shops.

But I was in a quiet suburb in my early childhood before I became an adolescent.

And the experience is better in terms of peace of mind , especially for autistic spectrum people who are sensitive to loud noises.

But since I'm in my 20s and unmarried single , I should probably be thinking of moving to a even bigger city

Because most Australian cities are at best just small town villages compared to London New York .

For reference I'm in a big suburb which is noisy and has a lot of congestion and noisy cars passing by.

If you don't drive it's a literal hell hole if you don't have friends to do stuff with.

Only positives are there are gyms and welfare office and a University plus variety of shops

And many doctor medical services

Are American suburbs quieter than Aussie suburbs ?
depends on the ethnic ratio, if it’s white dominated and upper middle class they tend to be a lot more quieter as opposed to ones that aren’t white dominated, moreover middle class too and have certain ethnic groups dominating it.

higher income areas usually have more emphasis on privacy, personal space, and not drawing attention, whereas more mixed or lower income areas tend to have more visible social interaction and less of that “keep to yourself” culture.

in quieter, wealthier areas people kind of treat public space like an extension of private space, minimal interaction, minimal noise.

living in the suburbs isn’t worth it if you’re not in an area that’s white dominated.

Which one do you live in?
I'm in a ethnic enclave sort of suburb, a mixed ethnic one though

Although there are few whites but not majority

i don’t live in the suburbs but i’ve visited them before. suburbs are different depending on who’s dominating them. go to some suburbs in texas where it’s packed with pajeets and hoodrat beaners, it’s loud, so uncivilized, ghetto behavior, no basic manners, people stinking up the stores and restaurants, kids running wild with no control.

compare that to the upper middle class suburbs in massachusetts, where it’s mostly white, quiet, clean, people actually say excuse me and hold doors, everything just feels more civilized and put together.

not exactly a coincidence, is it? the nicest, most upper middle class suburban areas tend to be heavily white dominated, and the quality of life shows it. you notice the difference immediately once you’ve seen both sides.

although this isn’t just the ‘suburbs’ in general (although that’d be ideal) just anywhere white dominated even connecticut gives you that proper ‘american’ experience that doesn’t make you feel like you’re in a third world shithole

yeah, although i’d avoid going anywhere near new york. it’s turning more ‘brown’ every day, not the good kind of brown. i remember going to school over here growing up and seeing a somewhat decent white population. nowadays when i visit these old schools i see 0 whites, just beaners. all the good whites i guess left or something off to the suburbs since they realized life here isn’t worth it which they’re right lmao especially how disproportionate the ‘highschool education’ is over here, just pure garbage. if you end up in a shit highschool in new york, you don’t even learn basic highschool algebra, it’s just reintegrated middle school algebra, doesn’t even touch on pure concepts like calc too. you’re not getting the ‘highschool’ experience here unless your parents truly cared about you enough to send you to a proper school. just avoid new york overall unless you’re there to tour

yeah, it varies a lot depending on the state and even within the same state. it also depends on what you mean by ‘college,’ because not all of them are the same. probably where the entire college vs uni thing comes from

for example, some places like the CUNY system in new york don’t even offer traditional dorming since everyone’s commuting. they advertise themselves heavily as ‘free college’ or ‘affordable college,’ which obviously attracts the worst of the worst. you end up with ethnic dominated campuses. the academic standards are often low, and the environment and support is garbage. i went to a CUNY before and just lol, the attitude the staff have is just disgusting especially this one sheboon that picked up the phone. i will never go to a shitty CUNY ever again.

compare that to the SUNY system, which tends to be more high class overall. SUNYs usually have a strong dorm culture, white dominated, better facilities, actual campus life, and higher standards. not sure about any other state but i guess they push a strong emphasize on going to an actual proper college university unlike here in new york where highschool teachers try so hard to push everyone into going to a garbage CUNY commuter school
