[QUOTE="PoopyPigeon, post: 59815, member: 417"] Warning: TLDR. This hypothesis might be a little difficult to grasp at first, but I'll try. We'd need the following technology to achieve what we want- 1) A means to save and store human intellect over very very long periods of time, for example, cryogenesis, or AI which can act on it's will while having human(or superior) intellect. 2) A bio-technological means to evolve the human/AI according to it's environment(considering the planet is habitable for life). Now let's try to demonstrate what I really mean. Stage 1- Send out many space crafts over thousands of years contained the being with human intellect to planets which are likely suitable for life. Stage 2- Humanity dies out. Stage 3- The spacecraft reaches its destination over thousands/millions of years. Stage 4- The beings inside adapt to their environment. Stage 5- They recreate civilization. Stage 6- They reach industrial revolution(or their eqivalent) and restart the process. Now let's say very few of those spacecrafts make it to stage 3, and even fewer of the beings who think them make it to stage 4, so forth. If even 1/10000 of them have the chance of reaching up until stage six, we'd succeed if we send out 20000 of them. And keep in mind these have to be sent out until humanity's dying day, which could be thousands of years down the line. Once we'd have sent them out, the job on our behalf would be over since the rest depends on mathematical probability of them succeeding. Imagine how simple reproduction of certain organisms happen, where the majority dies but since the count of offsprings exceeds the mortality rate they survive for millions of years. Thoughts?
