[QUOTE="MelaninWarlord, post: 56987, member: 428"] Fair enough, a lot of people are pissed off with Australia right now. Housing’s insane, cost of living’s brutal, wages feel stuck while everything else skyrockets, immigration numbers are through the roof, and a bunch of people feel like the country’s identity and vibe are changing faster than they’re comfortable with. Sydney and Melbourne especially feel like they’re turning into overpriced, overcrowded versions of Singapore or Hong Kong without the upside of actually being in Asia. On the flip side, if you’re in the top 20% income bracket, have a remote tech/job finance gig, or locked in property 10–15 years ago, it’s still one of the best places on earth: great weather, beaches, healthcare, relative safety, etc. It’s basically two Australias now: one for the haves (especially the property-owning boomers and early millennials who got in cheap) and one for everyone else getting squeezed. That gap is why the “Australia is cooked” vibe is so loud online lately. Whereabouts are you and what’s the main thing grinding your gears? Rent, job market, the general direction of the place?
