I went to the bookstore today and basically saw a fuckload of shit that I knew I was never gonna be able to read and well this is when I realized that the amount of books in circulation at this point is so massive that it must be insanely difficult to become a writer. Assuming you are just a normal person you are probably competing against millions of high iq people, people who had good upbringings, people who just had an idea or shit they wanted to vomit out and write out because of their unique life situation. At this point to become a writer or creative you pretty much have to cater to some sort of fetish area where people consume content like crazy because the average book situation and probably art world is hyper saturated. I also don't think you can really upgrade books, a lot of ideas are fundamental and can't really be bettered so you're kind of screwed there unless you make some post modernist shit fest. The problem is that as you cater to more and more extreme autists who only read shounen manga or some shit (for some reason they won't read anything else) the less people there are inevitably gonna be and basically you are just screwed. I don't think anyone can make a living off this. You may have to research into specific writing or art fandoms to look at the incomes and go for that or make a super attractive new niche but it's totally probably retarded. I can see why writers are the most depressed people and elliot rodger went er.
