In post-WWII Japanese context, Pacifism were strictly designed to undermine the imperial authority. They castrated the emperor's power and turned them into "symbol of Japan" which does not mean anything but they were merciful for not getting rid of it completely. even that's dangerous because for most of Japanese history emperor were mere puppets of powerful nobles militant shogunate.
even after Meiji restoration, Emperor quickly turned into puppet of Military. He "started the war" that military wanted and ultimately lost.

It isn't even fitting in nation like Japan where comformity is most valued. they avoid personal conflict and yet are authoritarian. because without authority to protect them none of their farmer life is sustainable.
The Un-Militarism is simply not possible, Military is law of nature. It could be possible in fictional utopia or maybe heaven of afterlife but none of that is true in brutal middle-earth. weak only gets destroyed and Military are merciful for not robbing you out of everything.
