few decades ago they were locked in asylums. everyone irl treats us like dirt like we aren’t shit, all of our efforts are ignored, it’s like people refuse to see the good in us. That’s why some stop taking care of themselves, cause it’s pointless. if an autist never leaves there room or doesn’t take much care of themself (don’t get this mixed with not having hygiene period) then I can’t blame them honestly.
Most autists such as myself stay out the way, we do our own thing, thats what life is all about but normies they’d rather us not exist period so they gotta make us feel bad for every little mistake we do, just because they’re uncomfortable. What’s worse is that I’m aware of it, I try to hide it but I fail to.
