This depends on one's location and country, but it could be a way to facilitate an easygoing and minimalistic lifestyle.
Historically, people moved to the cities for economic opportunity and social mobility. In modern times, however, the drawbacks of living in cities and urban areas now outweigh a lifestyle in the countryside. High cost of living pressures, limited employment opportunities and social mobility, and low social cohesion and community among other factors all contribute to a negative quality of life.
