yeah, it varies a lot depending on the state and even within the same state. it also depends on what you mean by ‘college,’ because not all of them are the same. probably where the entire college vs uni thing comes from for example, some places like the CUNY system in new york don’t even offer traditional dorming since everyone’s commuting. they advertise themselves heavily as ‘free college’ or ‘affordable college,’ which obviously attracts the worst of the worst. you end up with ethnic dominated campuses. the academic standards are often low, and the environment and support is garbage. i went to a CUNY before and just lol, the attitude the staff have is just disgusting especially this one sheboon that picked up the phone. i will never go to a shitty CUNY ever again. compare that to the SUNY system, which tends to be more high class overall. SUNYs usually have a strong dorm culture, white dominated, better facilities, actual campus life, and higher standards. not sure about any other state but i guess they push a strong emphasize on going to an actual proper [S]college[/S] university unlike here in new york where highschool teachers try so hard to push everyone into going to a garbage CUNY commuter school
