Basically you just jailbreak the OS to homebrew like you do with any other Nintendo system

Then you can download .cia file formats to install applications onto the device without it needing a digital license nor verification

Some people have made open source games like DOOM ports, Minecraft alternatives, emulators and such.

DDLC is a port made by someone else that I managed to find.

You can transfer such files through an SD card.

Yeah, anything the 3DS can emulate like N64 and GB games

I have the new edition of the console too which has more ram, memory cache and a cpu with a faster clock speed vs older 3ds models so emulation works nice.
