I enjoyed the franchise when I was a kid, my consumption of it was mainly the anime, but also books and toys as well. My experiences with the video games was mainly Pokémon Platinum on the Nintendo DS. My interest fell off after the release of the 3DS and 6th gen, as my parents didn't think it was worth spending money on the new console and the new games. However, I enjoyed playing the older games on emulators as a young teen. I found the Pokémon movies pretty kino as well.

Honestly, Pokemon Scarlet/Violet rekindled my love for the Pokemon games. I fell off HARD before Sword/Shield (though I still finished every game post-Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon). Even during Gen 7 I fell off pretty hard and found other games to occupy my time. I'd say my peak with the franchise was during the release year - 2013 - of Pokemon X/Y. Man, so many PokeTubers were riding the hype train and making so many needless videos on "leaks" (obvious fakes, including CoroCoro - a reputable leak magazine I think? - fakes), and you can bet your ass I watched them all.

I've played it casually for a while on and off. The reason I kind of stopped playing is because everything gets so expensive and grindy. By this I mean the Pokemon/Item inventory and once it capped again I just quit it.
Yeah fo sho. It's very pay-to-win and you only get a maximum of 50 Pokecoins a day and that's only if your Pokemon doesn't get kicked out of the gym within the needed time by another player.

I never played pokemon video games, but I saw the first season of the anime when I was a child and my parents took me to the cinema to see the movie, I also collected many figures, especially Pikachus
