Overview of the Game -
The reason I'm making this thread is because I just finished an amazing visual novel I got in a Humble Bundle.
The ending was unexpected and I genuinely thought it was heartfelt. I have a number of other VNs on my Steam backlog but I figured I'd post this mostly for recommendations for other VNs.
The one I just played was about a guy that travels to Japan and stays with two women who he thought were men (I guess they never exchanged photographs) because of their names being unisex.

Some thoughts -
As my sister just returned from a trip to Japan with her friend and actually gave me some souvenirs from there, I think this game kind of made more of an impact on me and makes me want to visit Japan even more.
If I do ever go to Japan (I can afford a round-trip in one pay because of how cheap it is due to our geographical location and close proximity to Asia), I'd definitely be visiting the Edo period studio park (which is mentioned in the game as a visitable location) because I'm utterly fascinated by the Edo period and general traditional Japanese culture.
I'd also be meeting my Japanese friend and hopefully her mum too. I play Pokemon Go with her mum a lot via long distance (she creates weekly groups with me and we've considered trading with each other once we unlock the Forever Friends thing).

Holy peak, I was thinking of mentioning this

I haven't played many vns but the 7th expansion universe is amazing. Umineko is objectively better than Higurashi but if you read Higurashi first nothing really beats it. At least for me. Ryukishi is a true master of human emotions and getting you to feel for the characters and what they go through. Especially thankful I got to read the Rena arc.

Gotta read the Higurashi vns again man.

I have decided to play through Umineko once again. I played it ages ago, long before there was an official language version or patch, so I think I only played the first 4 chapters. Got the Steam version, but I'm playing the Umineko Project PS3 fan port, runs well enough on Linux. See you in 200 waking hours or however long it is.

Suigin Trismegistus @Suigin Trismegistus i guess you ended up not liking moege.
Sadly, I forgot! I was consumed with working at the time. But first Umineko.
