I believe it's a grift to placate older folks who have worked their entire lives; these are the people who still have crystallised skills that the economy relies on and so they need to think their work is noble and that not working is not. The government wants the young to be solely dependent on it so they create a narrative to break up families and redirect money to material goods which makes the economy look better on paper. Though soon I think NEETs will be so abundant that there will be no denying that the issue is systemic.

I think the only winning move here is to acknowledge that most things online now are ragebait, attention-seeking drivel or AI slop because that's how money is made.
