Theres this house, gryffindor, they keep inviting immigrants and the show presents them as the "good guys".
Whats "good" about them? the gatekeeping, the censorshit, their ban of "prohibited magic" or what? The welcoming of minorities is "good"? Why do they welcome minorities I was asking.
I could understand if they were welcoming indian vedic spellcasters and native american animist shamans and african wandeless spirit magicians, so they learn from other magic systems unrelated to UK wicca tradition. But they dont do that. They take immigrants, and the immigrants are half blooded, crap mages who only do wingardium leviosa, a relatively useless spell.
The British wizarding world is fundamentally insular and conservative, and it does not changes even if they keep taking immigrant mages. The gryffindor caste is rotten to the core. On paper they are supposed to represent moral bravery and chivalry. In reality they are rotten people who spend their time doing magical trinkets and gimmicky toys and welcome "minorities" for no real reason.
Anyway, I side with slytherin. They are magical innovators, the show presents them as a decaying caste of elder mages with families that are very old and it does everything to slander their dreams of magical power.
Standard Hogwarts education is severely restricting, and its showed that only slytherin is for freedom of magic, they also attempted a lich transformation and they are the keepers of the chemical aspect of magic, for example professor python is sort of a "chemist". The political aspect of slytherin is also innovative, they would require a significant amount of change to be able to pursue superior magic.
In terms of immigration policies, I think slytherin is the more enlightened caste. They obviously prefer "pure magical" attunement, but they added no limits to it, so they have no problem integrating a shaman, a scholar from another tradition. So long its for power. Slytherin also ensures the preservation of the magical capitals, including genetic. Which means its the only house capable of innovation.
HP presents these people slytherin as "villains" but its all literature trickery, there is zero reason to consider them "evil". Nothing of what they do is evil. Fight for "freedom of speech" (magical liberty) is supposed to be evil? Fuck off, it isnt. Complain about current hierarchy and limitations and rules, is that evil? No it isnt. The only evil part was to attack civilians, hurt the mom of HP and so on. But these are minor offenses and in my view also partly justified given the task ahead was doing the very first lich in that sorry magic academy.
