Lots of hippies in the conspiracy communities are more advance, and I noticed they all do mistakes but correct them later, or they follow a path but later realize it was bad and right their course. Pretty normal stuff you can say, but I didnt find it normal in adulthood where in the realm of the normie the average is persevering in the error. Take for example the qanon delusion, its not shameful to believe in it, and its not shameful to get passionate about it, especially if you wake up from it, and you try to help others to disbelieve the qanon fakeness. This is what hippy conspiracy people did, they woke up from qanon, denounced it. When qanon was spread in the twitterlands, it became accepted uncritically by the normal people, and these normal people have no hope to wake up from it. Being wrong is almost expected as part of the search. I mean, if you know how to do a research, you probably expect to discover new things the more you go on, and hippy community more or less was built around distrust of institutions so they have that skill. No hippy ever gave loyalty to any specific narrative. Meanwhile normies do not work this way, a normie can only be shamed to death and when hes "debunked" with feats of hostile aggression, the normie will move from one grand theory to another. My observation is simply this: Hippies treat belief as provisional and they are good at correcting their beliefs, instead normies use belief as identity. Simple as. If your hippy community values truth more than loyalty, then you can get lots of people to disbelieve qanon even if initially they felt for it. As I said, is not shameful to have believed a bullshit. Who doesnt believe a bullshit or 2? I think, with normies, the optimal method is adversarial journalism. Stuff like professor dave or neil degrasse or these journalists who debunk grifters like huberman, or adversarial hostility against dr.peterson. With a normie, you have to go into aggressive mode instantly, because you have to realize you are going to attack an identity more than a belief. With a hippy, you can chillax and share your schizo thery, and the hippy knows himself to a level where he can allow his beliefs to change or remain un-altered. With a normie, you cant have this luxury, you gotta be prepared for aggression.
