I think that we are all confusing terms here, and that's why I would like to clarify things. My "ego-deaths" should be better called "seeing through the illusion of a centralized-self or soul that is in charge of everything with supposedly absolute free-will", which confirms for me the grounds of psychoanalysis; we are indeed split subjects. The ego is just a part of this system, and it is of course you! It is a part of you, you are that! This set of experiences is what makes you unique; no other human being has the same genetic configuration nor has gone through the exact same experiences as you, I mean, the probability for that to happen must be very low. Therefore you are unique! In fact, one of my most viewed threads says: https://elysianfields.se/threads/self-love-is-the-best-kind-of-love-there-exists-incels-and-everyone-get-the-fuck-in-now.1933/ https://elysianfields.se/threads/the-only-thread-you-will-ever-need-letting-go-of-the-ego-is-paradoxically-necessary-for-reaching-your-goals-goodbye.4703/ You can't "kill" the ego, better said, you see through the illusion of self to observe that it is a part of you! It is not the complete package in other words. It doesn't have to define you completely. This story that you tell yourself about who you are, even though it is a part of you, it shouldn't have the power to define who you are to become or what you should do. This is the only key difference, it isn't the end of all, but the start of something new.nI say this because sometimes self-identity gets into the way of happiness maximization, and that's why a re-evaluation of beliefs is necessary.
