At the end of 2025, I bought a logitech G923 for truck simulator. I had no idea where it'd put me about a month later. I decided I wanted to try assetto corsa since I already bought the hardware. After about a week of hot lapping, I decided I wanted to do competitive racing. I looked into leagues, but they were all a pain in the ass for someone who can barely socialize or hold a sleep schedule. That led me to iracing, which I was initially hesitant on due to it being a subscription and needing to use my real name, but decided to say fuck it while kind of sleep deprived one night. I bought a years long sub, and I haven't looked back since. Since then I likely spent over 300 dollars on tracks and cars alone. After about 2 months, I decided it was time to get rid of my logitech stock pedals and upgrade to loadcells. I bought the simjack UT set and had to replace my initial stand for something that was big enough for them after they arrived. This one having a cup holder. I played a lot with them, open wheel was my specialty with me loving the F4. After getting loadcells, I decided to try out the sports car stuff. The racing is a lot more fun given how people can't just one shot murder me. In F4s, a single soft collision would make a wing or tire fly off. Sports cars allow soft collisions without incident points, which harms my SR. Sim racing also gave me a perfect excuse to not play games I don't feel like playing when friends ask: moving my heavy ass rig is a pain. Currently my arm is fucked up. I'm not sure how but I go to the doctor this monday to get it checked out if it's not better. It's been over 2 weeks so I haven't been able to sim race. Instead, I've been watching anime and playing rocket league waiting for recovery. I also got into Indycar, F1, and NASCAR shortly after I gpt into sim racing, with Indycar being my favorite. Alex Palou has dominated for the past several seasons, he won the first race of the season on saint petersburg. His dominance seems to have come to an end after a wreck on the first oval of the season, I was watching with a friend and we were incredibly happy to see his spotter not tell him there was a car on the outside, which he hit and spun, causing him to destory his car and DNF. As for NASCAR, I watched the first 3 races of NASCAR this season and the clash, the clash sucked on an objective level. They ran an incredibly short oval in cup cars which went as well as one would expect. They constantly wrecked, and as caution laps didn't count, it was a miserable viewing experience. This year's Daytona 500 had a legendary finish, which I'll just link so you can watch it for yourself: the finish Reddick went on to set a record this season, winning the first 3 races of the season, which was never done before in NASCAR history. As for F1, I haven't followed it as much as I should have, with me missing the first race but watching the second. The race was entertaining, but unfortunately, my boy Max Verstappen got fucked over by a coolant leak or something. Unlike ball sports, motorsports are actually fun. No breaks between action, no timeouts, just nonstop action. The only downtime is when someone wrecks and the pace car is brought out. Even then, cautions matter for strategy, where one can take less pit stops if they gamble on the pace car coming out.
