Bell Curve is more than enough to prepare you for the stupidity of the masses. I'd be impressed if you posted that you found most of the opinions well-founded and intelligent. You need to realise that the internet has given idiots a voice, especially young ones. Those of us who were born before Y2K were given the wisdom to separate real life from the virtual world. For younger people, the line between the two realities is blurred, so they are easily offended. It's no wonder that terms like cyber-bullying became very popular when these children started using the internet more intensively after 2010, especially with the advent of the worst modern social disgrace: social networks. Yes, there were social networks before 2010, but we have to be honest and admit that, back then, social networks were more for sharing your cat's photo than for discussing politics. The scenario was completely different. Even on forums, the majority of those interested in discussions were at least people who already understood the subject and just wanted to expand on what they already knew. The same doesn't happen with younger people. They simply assume that they know something, THEY DO NOT, but still try to spout their opinions based on guesswork, but dressed up as absolute certainties (that's why ‘experts point out’ in the headlines). The best way to purge ignorant people from online spaces is to prevent them from being frequented by minors, or better still, to prevent anyone born after 2000 from accessing the forum. But that would be too much to ask in the middle of the Kali Yuga.
