Found it capture the decadence of urban isolation pretty well, while not being heavy on indictment or moral evaluation of the rotter protagonist (similar to taxi driver in that sense). Heavy on narration to the point I found it was more like those 2 paraagraaph long ramblings chaaracterised by authors like Krasznahorkai rather than Dostoevsky in that theyre not really integral to anything but serves the overall thematic style of the film. Its only one hour long but I found it very relatable even though Im not French nor do I live in a hovel of a hotel room like the protag.

Interesting, never heard of this before. Thanks for the recc. Oslo august 31st is about addiction but it deals with loneliness/hopelessness and other themes that NEETs go through. Then there's taxi driver which you've already mentioned and there's a few east asian films that i liked aswell.

Mind you it's kinda narration heavy , more like a novella with a movie playing in the background in a sense. Another one that is more comedic but about two neets is Withnail and I. Obviously there's transpotting as well but ig that's kinda stretching it

I hope someday we'll get an accurate not moralfagging movie about NEETs set in modern day, but seeing how western entertain is I doubt that will ever happen.
