[QUOTE="EYES_OF_THE_WORLD, post: 44360, member: 319"] I feel like this is why people romanticize iseaki, being sent to the past, living in medieval times, 1800s, etc. Being born there is hell don't get me wrong and I'll never do it (unless the isekai is in a fantasy/sci-fi world, i don't immediately die from the diseases that come from it or have my body fucking obliterated from the different environment, possess some cheat skills and abilities, can speak the languages there, and get a concealment attribute so that the higher ups in that world don't immediately detect me from 3 star systems away and experiment on my ass), but the average individual who gets born there without their memories (or maybe even with them) will have a higher ceiling of happiness imo. I despise religion copers but imagine being in a fight against the enemy and the enemy suddenly dying, imagine truly believing in mysticism and god, having a true ideological belief that is the norm at that time, possessing a community, etc. Simply put, I think a major part of lack of meaning comes from the fact that we have already brought meaning to all of life. There is no new world to explore, space traveling being the norm is a distant future, and god does not exist. Spiritual pillars that make the world more brighter than it actually is has been fully evaporated from reality, and the stuff that remains will get constant suppression from the materialistic world we live in (the true nature of reality) and the suppression that comes from knowing deep down that all they believe in is false.
