This is a poll to ban threads containing external links to third-party websites (videos, articles, etc.) as they are zero-effort and only clog up the forum. These kinds of threads usually get ignored and create no discussion.

If someone would like to post external content as a thread, they should also write something substantial to go alongside it as to start some kind of discussion surrounding it.

You can post Youtube videos as threads as long as you write a few sentences about it. Posting videos as replies is still fine.

I am not sure they get ignored.
I used to do this on Facebook and used to think my video posts were ignored until I moved in with an associate of mine. Id hear the audio of my videos. He watches them but just doesn't comment or react because other reasons.

Yeah my comment still stands. Maybe we can do something like give these videos a grace period. If they get not reacts or comments they are deleted. Encouraging you to react if you want the content to stay.

Bans as such often do make a step towards the right direction in achieving rigid aims, but in doing so we remove or kill some of the forum’s soul, a once existing idiosyncratic occurrence of the forum is likely gone as a result. But as they say destruction births creation…

If this is going into effect, then it should be specified the do's and do not's, that way everyone is on the same page.

I don't know if this is possible but can posts auto-delete if they fit certain criteria? If the OP is a social media link and the thread has not been engaged for a few days for exampe?
