Simply the environment they were in as well as the hardware (genetics) they had. I don't think they share one truth of life but I do think that for their sake, their life and the experiences they have reflect a truth of life, albeit fragmented and something not truly complete. For example, the goodlifer may never understand the. levels of despair and negative emotions one can experience as well as be unable to understand the more harsh truths of life but at the same time the horriblelifer will not be able to understand the positive emotions and general life that a goodlifer can have, and will likely become pessimistic because of this. The reason I said was mostly an affirmation on the idea @twojei was stating. Obviously one should be self-critical and analyze their life to reach the truth or perhaps see a falsehood that they have originally thought was something good/bad, but in general one should put more focus on the life experiences they had rather than justify everything using one ideology or truth. This applies to any idea at all. You can think of it as putting the practical over the theoretical.
