Third world countries have high fertility even if they're wealthy cuz a rich man can have multiple children and multiple wives for even more children.

But wealth brings down number of children in western developed countries.
That's where the stereotype of the welfare queen with 8 kids comes from

I just remembered professor Edward Dutton talking about how IQ was dropping in the west. But I guess it doesn't matter now with AI.

I think the major leaps in IQ for developed countries have largely been a result of improved nutrition during childhood, along with a greater general access to education. However, this has clearly been exhausted. At best, we could uplift places that are behind in these metrics to raise the average by a bit, but that's really about it. Not only that, but due to AI and a number of other factors, kids' brains don't seem to be getting sufficiently challenged in order for neuroplasticity to fully kick in, and this will probably be an enduring trend. To put it simply, we have plateaued at the moment.

But yeah, if AI reaches a point where it leaves human cognitive ability in the dust, then it won't really matter.
