I am observing Britain from a satellite and it looks like this: empty fields, empty fields, empty fields, small gray dot.

Zoom in on the gray dot: it's a town.

All houses within look like this:

What's to prevent British people from ...spreading out into the fields?

C. Jews
D. Royalty

Encroaching on the fields would render "real estate" in Britain twice, thrice, four times cheaper and some interested parties desperately don't want that.
