If you liked the anime, you should read the webnovel, you will not be disappointed. Witch Cult Translations (and TranslationChicken, bless his soul) have laboriously, painstakingly toiled away to grant us this masterpiece. I am not one for fiction usually, and though not 'high-brow' it is a lucid, refreshing narrative.
I highly recommend a read-through for current anime watchers, the webnovel Arc 6 and Arc 8 are the zenith of Peak:Zero. Arc 9 is really shaping up to be something special.
Japanese webnovels are a goldmine for colorful narratives. Mushoku Tensei, while reigning as a hallmark of Isekai, just made me way too jealous of Rudeus when I tried to read it as a stone cold incel. I must confess that I have thought of Subaru to be a bit of a Gary Stu as the story progresses, but refreshingly the author keeps introducing twists that prevent this feeling from being ubiquitous, when necessary.
