The Steam Cuck is a cynical scam. Its a subcultural fetish item.
When smartphones first appeared, consumers felt they were participating in the future and gave normies the sense of progress. It was all about entering a new historical stage, like I presume it was the idea of owning a car and mog people on a horse or like the idea of going in the train first class ticket. So the smartphone concept changed social behavior, aesthetics, work, and even human attention spans and the way we talk and think.
Technology once offered grand narratives of progress. There were people obediently waiting in endless queues in front of apple stores that were organized like a church structure with glowing white logos and religious symbols all over.
Today that feel is weaker. Tech culture is all about smaller ideologies and niche identity and full of cynical "indie DEV" scams and "opensource" linux atheist nonsense. Instead of universal visions or great narratives, consumers gather around mid technologies that provide aesthetic coherence and subcultural vibe. The Steam Cuck was born in this situation, its yet another cynical scam built around fragmented normies. And it proves to me, normies are devolving and becoming stupider the more we go on.
The Steam Cuck did not fundamentally change anything. Mostly is all about adapt already existing PC games into handheld form while inheriting the inefficiencies of desktop computing. Its appeal isnt tech, its all ideological: openness, Linux culture, anti-corpo branding, "indie" aesthetics, and enthusiast identity. Here the paradox, it became even more a fetish totem than the Iphone in the past. Normie devolution and collective suicide theory confirmed.
Steam Cuck is backwards compared to older handheld concepts such as the PSVita. The Vita got longer battery life and specialized hardware, display looked good unlike the shit panel on the Steam Cuckold. PSvita games were awesome, like gravity rush, and its worth owning a Psvita simply to play it.
Steam Cuck instead simply crams an underpowered AMD laptop architecture into a bulky heavy chassis with horrible battery life and horrible cooling solution. Its inefficient, its simply shit-tier desktop gaming culture "in your pocket" provided you have baggy jeans and you dont wear skinny leggins.
Ironically, modern smartphones already represent superior portable computing platforms. Steam Cuck is more like an older type of computing paradigm, and I dont have any idea why normies are so backwards to not see it this way.
The only historical parallel I can think of is when Apple did a collage of components to claim invention of the "think laptop". Ultrabook CPU didnt come yet, so apple used an intel core2duo and an ipod spinning vent and put it into a thin chassis callled it "apple air". But at least the apple air was born in time, and made sense aesthetically. Steam Cuckold is a platform that simply represents technological decadence.
