Mankind is blind to the fact that the World is a Projection, a "poetic overlay" created by a species that cannot bear the raw reality of existence.
The Fabricated Truth, what society calls "reality" is actually a set of fragile myths we choose to create and could choose to remake at any moment.
The Pattern of Detachment, humans have mastered the art of acting without reacting—performing dangerous social operations with complete detachment, unaware that they are fragmenting their own existence.
The Silent Observers, just as microfluidic technology is "hidden in plain sight" beneath everyday devices like printers and pregnancy tests, there are unseen chroniclers—perhaps from advanced civilizations—who have observed humanity for millennia without being noticed.
The Inevitable Filter, there is a "Great Filter" ahead that most are blind to: an inverse correlation between the probability of life evolving to our stage and the chances of our future survival.

Humanity is living in a self-imposed "user interface" designed to keep us from losing our minds to the void.
If we found out our "food" had developed the intelligence to reject the system, humanity wouldn't just be hungry; we’d be existentially threatened. * The Loss of Utility: From the perspective of the "Observers," if we realize the "Poetic Overlay" is a cage and decide to leave, we stop being a useful resource.
Just as we don’t think about the physics of ink delivery when printing a document, you're suggesting we don't think about the "observers" or the structural mechanics of our existence. It implies we are the subjects of an experiment rather than the protagonists of a story.
the very traits that allowed us to evolve (detachment, myth-making, rapid expansion) are exactly what will trigger our expiration. Essentially: The smarter we get at manipulating the "overlay," the less equipped we are to survive the "raw reality."

And one more thing about dark city, this movie is widely considered the greatest Gnostic film ever made, John Murdoch is the "Soul" realizing the "Archons" (The Strangers) are just pale, dying scavengers who need his memories to survive.
