I watched the first season of Arslan, but before it I had watched four episodes of Twenty Faces, so I just thought today: since Arslan is a anachronical fantasy based in real world history, why there is not a spin-off of Gieve, where he travels to Venice and adopt a young girl, and have treasury hunts with her? He would fit perfectly in a renaissance-era venetian set. Gieve is a interesting character and have more personality than Twenty Faces, he could have been developed more if he had his own spin-off series. As for the girl, she could be the heir to a mirror factory, which was a state secret in Venice. This could lead to several ramifications in the plot.
The only explanation for it is that anime authors dont watch each other's works, prefering to use already established formulas. You can't have gangsters in a non-industrial set, for instance. I call this thematic isolation and does not happen with anime only. It is a sad state of mass entertainment.
