I tried therapy and it didn't work. I got the impression that therapy only works for normal people who 'become trapped in their own mind'. In my case, there are so many external problems that it would be ludicrous to suggest that it's a problem of the mind. In therapy they call this 'shit life syndrome', but it basically means that therapists can do nothing to help because it's a problem of circumstance, not mentality. Imo the vast majority of people on fringe internet forums are paradoxically too far gone for therapy to be helpful. One major issue is that most of the people on these forums have features of schizophrenia or autism. These are not mental disorders, they are developmental disorders with corresponding neurological and physiological alterations that provide genuine roadblocks to recovery. The vast majority of psychiatrists do not have these disorders, leading them to view them as overtly psychological phenomena, almost like a tabula rasa, and they find that none of the treatments work because it's not a psychological issue. Therapy might be useful for people who are already on the track to recovery. I think a couple of people on this site might gain some value from interacting with a therapist.
