Seems like truth is incompatible with most psychotherapy I've seen some cases that have achieved good results outwardly, my perspective talking to these people it was always with emotional blockages that therapy helped the most If the reason for doing drugs was someone was a thug who couldn't accept himself as a real loving person there could be a great transformation and success story but I've seen many failures as well, these people I think are not talked about and keep going in and out of therapy/rehab centres. The brain can be extremely altered not only developmentally but through prefrontal lobe atrophy and toxic neuroplasticity that there is little or none inner capacity to reach truth about oneself in this life anymore. To me the fact that therapists don't straight up say it's over for these people is the most insencere and sinister thing they can do. Also they profit by doing it Most people I've seen achieve "some" benefit and it's mostly these people you mentioned @GGWP. From what I've seen they accept their situation and live in a grey area where they can responsibly do drugs and have fun only now avoiding reprocussions by doing it more smart. Nothing really changed they can function in society. Self-expression and acepting/processing emotions is the only thing where it really helps so pretty much what @jayjay is recommending.
