4E was wildly unpopular
The unpopularity of 4E built pathfinder
I hear its redeemable for people who like small skirmishes using miniatures
Hot take. I don't think anything is wrong with 4e. I keep hearing it's "like an mmo", which . . . falls flat, to me. I can certainly see, upon deep reflection, how that could be a conclusion one comes to, but I think its design is meant to allow people to be a bit more independent and solo-capable. I think the power system is satisfactory. But yes--it's definitely built around the idea of grid-based combat and/or miniatures. So, if you like Fire Emblem it's the system for you, but I digress.

That being said, I'll look into PF1 and again, my interest for your eventual campaign here remains. Just let me know.

thanks for the info. I was so incredibly poor when 4 E came out. I couldnt really find out about it. I was mostly too poor for like a decade to get into ttrpgs again
