[QUOTE="Memento Mori, post: 30820, member: 1"] I've always had a far sub-optimal neuro-chemistry to actually succeed in any social/professional/academic context. My neuroticism and social trauma has rendered me incapable of enjoying socializing and my shitty dopamine receptors/executive dysfunction has bestowed upon me an inability to do any kind of begrudging toil work. In theory I can force myself to function in these kinds of environments and rely on backwater methods to help cope but those adjustments always seemed unreasonable to me and not worth the pain and effort of trying but eventually failing miserably. I think the prospect of NEETing offers a safety valve to disengage from society for those few individuals unable to conform within the system. NEETing is not as easy as it sounds of course, and can be a conduit to amplify one's bad habits or worsen one's pre-existing circumstances, but there are stories of individuals who have absolutely thrived while being NEETs and their experiences serve as good models or guides for those who are currently NEET or aspiring NEETs to learn from.
