In all my time online I've only ever made one good internet friend, and that relationship was developed over a few years, it wasn't formed overnight. What have been your own experiences regarding this? It's kind of fucked that some people don't end up meeting anyone they resonate with in their life and the only other option where one can find anyone who they can remotely relate to is to resort to the internet. Before the internet and mass transportation, people would stay in one town or city their whole life and if one wasn't so lucky they'd be stuck there having an indifferent opinion of the people around them or at worst, hating everyone's guts. The internet connects billions of people virtually at high-speeds, and there is a certain level of anonymity that is afforded to everyone, and for this reason it's great for casual socialization but lacking in terms of fostering deeper human connections. Netizens tend to be more guarded and afraid to be vulnerable, because on the internet, everyone's a stranger. It still seems people are separated by geography and physical limitations as much as ever. The internet only brings fingers to the point of touching, but never meeting.
