In my mind there are two main schools of thought when it comes to occultism: 1. Everything 'occult' is an archaic way of understanding the world before modern science. In the past physical, chemical and biological mechanisms were not well understood, leading people to extrapolate knowledge from their own subjective sense. It is not useful in the 21st century. 2. Occult and spiritual teachings are an alternative science and have value despite revolutions in mainstream science. Reality cannot be measured empirically all of the time and spirituality may be an equivalent or more advanced method of understanding the world. Do you believe in empiricism and the material world? Or do you think there is an often overlooked spiritual element to our world, and if so why?
