Currently playing total war barbarian invasion.

If you have the following:
Empire total war
Napoleon total war
Roman total war
Shogun 2 total war
Medieval total war
Or any in the series

What were your guy's experience like? My first total war series was Shogun 2 but it was on a potato computer. The first one I ever played to excess was Rome total war and war total war barbarian invasion. I remember staying up nights playing the Roman factions, but what pissed me off was the economics which I didn't comprehend later in my life.

I enjoyed Shogun 2 Troy and Warhammer 3 the most
The AI in the series is kinda shitty
Player gets economy handicap and AI prioritizes you (to compensate)
It makes the game harder but feels less like like fighting humans when a random faction crosses half of the map, without engaging in battle with hostile armies and attacks your settlement.
Diplomacy is also annoying with random deals that you don't want and allies only reliable for defending your territory from rebels
I like the aesthetics in these games
the battles too but it depends, sieges tend to be long and boring and in the older titles units had major pathfinding issues entering settlements

 

[Trilogy]

Last Total War I played was Total War: Attila. Usually I would play as one of the Germanic barbarian factions in the campaign. The reason I wanted to play Total War was because the battles seemed really fun whenever I watched them on Youtube. But when I actually played the game I was more interested in the overall strategy/geopolitics on the map than the battles themselves
