After years of being with the same, shitty internet provider, I bit the bullet and decided to change. I was with iiNet (literally the worst ISP in Australia with horrific customer support, all outsourced to India with jeets who can barely fucking speak English). After a talk to one on the phone yesterday to fix my modem - they didn't know what they were talking about so I abused the fuck out of them and told them I'm changing providers, to fuck off - I decided to go through Optus, who are generally decent and are my mobile service provider. Black Friday deals are on, so I got a high-speed modem for free with a $15/month off for 12 months contract. My current speeds are 50 megabits download/18 (at most) megabits upload - which is just really, really fucking shit for my location and in today's age. My new speeds will be 500 megabits download/43 megabits upload. The new download speeds are going to be literally 10x faster than what I have now. It's also just a little more expensive than what I pay for now, which is kind of fucked. I pay $79/month for 50mbs download... which is a rip off. I'll be paying $84/month for 12 months for my new speeds, then it'll be only $99/month afterwards. I'm willing to pay a bit extra for a decent connection. I told my mate about it, and they said once you get minimum 500mb/s download speeds, it's impossible to go back, which makes me excited for it. I calculated the new download speeds - I got around 62.5 megabytes/second, which will be a HUGE improvement. I'll be able to download games at a reasonable speed now. I could have gone for 800mb/s download, but I think that'd just be overkill. Here's the plan I got:
