Discussion What makes this forum worth keeping in your opinion?

There are users who have voiced their objections so I'd like to hear their perspective more. What makes Elysian Fields different and worth keeping compared to the other forums out there, when in recent times in terms of discourse and atmosphere the forum has started to look no different to the other offerings in the space?

The 'cool features' and 'customization' is something that is extraneous and if that's all people are using it for that's more of a reason to shut down the forum.

The forum has declined noticeably in the past few months, with terrible user engagement and user retention. One of the main aspirations when starting the forum was to have an environment and culture similar to Neets where the majority of members were comfortable enough with each other to strike up friendly conversation and create a chill non-toxic environment. While Elysian Fields succeeded in that aspect in the beginning, with a small close-knit group of members, the forum has slowly become less cohesive over time.

I'd rather not keep the forum up if people are always attacking each other and it's just a hotbed for bullying and negative vibes.

i think the majority of the arguments are all in good fun. very few users are genuinely hostile and they can just spend some time in the slammer imo.

Imo this forum is in general a lot less of a cesspool and way less hostile than most similar forums. Users here sometimes mess around but it's nowhere near as nasty of beef as other forums. That's what drew me into this one

hmmmmmmmmm I also like the subforums here. I think we have the right number of them and they promote relevant discussion without shit getting mixed up.

Yeah this forum doesn't seem that toxic compared to some other ones I'm on, maybe better moderation is needed with user bans if necessary.

The forum does seem pretty dead, I stumbled on this forum when I did an extensive search for new forums to post in, maybe it needs better "tags" to be put higher priority in search engines.

Yep mods here were a lot more chill than other forums. If mods are shit it doesn't matter how good the rest of the forum is, just that aspect alone is what made this one good by not having power tripping mods who ban you for no good reason

I can't say whether it's worth keeping or not. I found it from a similar forum and thought I'd stick around to exchange information and see about building my community. Now, if you aren't happy running the forum then it's not worth keeping. Having done jobs that I lost passion for, don't run yourself raw for our benefit. We all have one life to live and if yours is better spent doing other things, do them.

Personally, I enjoy the bells and whistles and whatnot but I stick around mainly for the rare gem of a conversation and things related to improvement/copes. It's one of those things where it would be a slight bummer to see the forum go but life will go on if it does.

I'll start by saying that I didn't have many negative interactions at all, or even saw them occur in threads, except for a few instances of standard net trolling
This forum's purpose seems to me like a more organic alternative from what one should consider 'normal platforms' with lots of engagement, so obviously there will be some troublesome personalities who couldn't find acceptance in any of the bigger circles. But the nature of the forum just encourages such people to reflect and act differently because any shitty behaviour can be so easily countered by the existing , already close-knit population.

Plus, if you take away this forum some might lose good connections to peers that have been established for a long time, or have potential to turn into strong relationships, and taking it away at this stage of the site's development is harming you as well as everyone who fits that description. Especially if you are doing it because of a minor factor like trouble caused by singular users.

Yeah I know that sounds selfish, sorry I know it costs a lot to run this forum, but I don't think a few ppl should ruin it for everyone
Plus if you keep it now ppl are bound to be shook up and change their ways, and I for one am very willing to be part of a solution

This forum is much tamer vs the other ones (Not really too many tbh lol), better moderation would be a good start, but it's also hard to maintain a space like this because if it becomes too much like it's counterparts it becomes a Fredrick Brennan old owner of 8chan/wizchan scenario, where you don't really want to be the owner, let alone moderate a space like this if it becomes too much. If you'd want to keep it up, I'd say more mods and updates to keep reengagement on here.

This is the only forum that doesn't seem to have edgy lunatics who harass you for no reason. It's pretty good for that reason alone maybe they don't know about it yet or would rather stay on neets or is. It's also nice to be able to bounce ideas around with others. Maybe one could get some distractions or reframing if they have problems. Although I agree I mostly use it to vent and maybe be negative so I should probably stop that.

I’ve tinkerd with xenoforo before. I know it’s possible to change ownership of admins rather easily. I think you should get rid of inactive mods which 3/4 are and get new ones or just give admin ownership over to queen sense they use the forum the most.

Lol, I'm banned from a lot of other forums, like the 2 looksmaxxing forums, org banned me in under 24 hours and said I was a pedo even though I did nothing questionable.

Yeah when Tenzent add Mental report each other its confusing what to do because they have a special relationship where they actually enjoy their conflict so its not entirely non consentual. When they report its confusing what exactly they want me to do. It would be nice if they explained what they want from me.

I'll say this much: your mods are actually in something resembling a boundary. Incels? The less said about that place, the better. I get that's a low bar, but at least you're above it. That's a start.

I dont know what forum id go to. I just like this place and neets.net. Im uncomfortable going back to neets .net I like it here or bring this to creation.social or create another forum or discord
