Discussion What was the best case in person that you've ever seen of someone standing up for someone else?

For me, it was back in middle school. Kind of surprising too as the middle schoolers I went to school with were basically monsters beating up nerdy kids and sexually harassing girls.

But either way, this very scrawny looking nerdy kid with huge glasses had sat down at the lunch table with his tray. Then out of nowhere comes this big, beefy athletic kid who literally comes over and pushes him out of his chair and onto the floor, making his glasses fall as well, sits in the chair, says "this my food now bitch, go fuckin' sit somewhere else" and begins to eat his food, starting by taking big bites out of the pizza.

Then comes a group of about 10 kids or so, equally as big and beefy as him, saying really loudly: "Hell no! GIVE HIM BACK HIS FOOD BRUH! GIVE HIM HIS FUCKIN' FOOD BACK!"

And he replied with "what the hell ya gonna do about it huh?" And then immediately as he said that all 10 boys flew on top of him, grabbed him, held him in place, began punching and kicking the shit out of him, and he was like, really loudly: "OKAY OKAY I GIVE UP YO HE CAN HAVE HIS FUCKIN' FOOD BACK!" And that basically settled the matter.

And so the scrawny nerdy kid was able to eat his food in peace.

I was pretty surprised as normally they would join in on bullying the nerdy kid. Not help him.

But this was a refreshing change of pace for middle school, for once, lol.

And before you ask "where were the teachers in all this," they literally didn't give a shit. They'd often see bullying right in front of them and literally just completely ignore it.

Racked through my head and didn't find anything—or maybe I just have a poor memory. Either way it's not something you see much in society nowadays. Everyone is looking out for their self.

Schools are holding rooms for children while their parents work. It's no wonder they end up turning into chaotic zoos.

You can make connections, who will help you out in life, but that's harder to do in a non homenogeous society

Don't remember that happening much, but I do remember one time it happened to me. In high school, some guy in the cafeteria was handing out plates to his friends. I though he was giving them to everyone, so I just took one. Then the guy started screaming at me like, "Why did you take it, what's your problem" jfl. What a clown.

At the time, I had insane social anxiety, so I just looked away and pretended I didn't hear him, jfl. Some other guy luckily noticed it and told the guy to stop sperging out.

Thankfully I don't have that anxiety anymore, as it's probably the most embarrassing feeling in the moment and hindsight when you can't defend yourself, especially in such a low-stake situations.

Yeah, understandable, sometimes my memory is good, other times it's horrible, lol. But yeah! Not something you see nowadays. Or even back then when I was much younger. My whole life everyone is just looking out for their self. Seems like general human nature to me.

And yup! Basically! It's somewhat of a babysitting/daycare type of thing, only with way older kids. And will all the hormones kids in their pre-teen years begin to have, no wonder it spirals into insanity.

When I was in New York, I accidentally put my wallet down in a Panda Express (I know low iq brainlet moment but in my defense I had some serious troubles I just got told that day) and forgot to bring it to me but thankfully this really nice girl realized I didn't pick up my wallet and gave it to me. Funny thing is she looked like one of those people who would steal money from a child to fuel their crack addiction. I suppose one shouldn't judge a book by it's cover.

If we're talking about people standing for each other though, I don't really have much of anything to say. My school honestly was a heaven compared to others (I suppose that's what private schools do for you) and everyone there didn't really have much of a reason or really desire to bully anyone. This is even with people who look sub-5... really if my school was like every other school, bluepillers may be onto something. Either way, if we're talking about family life.... well there isn't really any examples of that, any examples that are meaningful. My family are all devils. Each and every single one of them, and i'm not the exception to this rule sadly.

Before the industrial revolution there was no need for parents to go out working because the family toiled the soil together on the farm all day.

There was this small autistic curry, along with a few others like him, who would get routinely picked on by the other kids at my highschool. A few times the popular kids would make these showy displays when someone further down the social ladder decided to take part in namecalling. It wasn't really an effort to defend the kid, since they turned a blind eye whenever someone "of their rank" decided to engage in the same behaviour. I remember speaking to him in a half-mocking way one time, which resulted in this pack of shitflinging jocks ganging up on me and making the same showy display in front of the entire class about how I was weak for picking on someone obviously smaller, more fragile, (they did the same to me lol) etc etc., not surprising considering that trying to fit in is just a humiliation ritual, which at the time I didn't understand and in my defense was a result of being too underdeveloped at that age to understand my place in the social organ.

They would engage in the same, if not worse, kind of harrassment every now and then when it was deemed more acceptable by the cohort (there was a time in my music class where I was put in a chokehold by this larger no-nonsense 'tard, which was deemed "just" since I was too antisocial to engage in group activities and had shunned my peers in a class which saw that everyone was somehow equally passionate about deconstructing avant-pop music and jerking eachother off with noise and good vibes).

I've never personally witnessed anyone standing up for what is right outside of that, but then again I went to a shitty school and hung out with a non-confrontational crowd, so I probably just haven't been exposed to it.

Perhaps, though for me at least, hot humid climates just tire me out. Like I'm fine with the extremes of hot and cold areas, but when it gets humid... fuck that is the worst thing to experience. If there was a God, what the fuck were they thinking adding that shit in?
