I've started a new wiki, the purpose of which is to be a repository of information regarding the Whitepill worldview and other related topics. It also serves as a foundation in which to formally consolidate the different theories and definitions of the Whitepill. The wiki is pretty barebones as of current, but if you are interested in becoming an editor on the wiki, let me know by replying in this thread.

What is the Whitepill?

The Whitepill is an individualist philosophy first defined and conceptualized by former Incels.is admin SergeantIncel. It was developed as a stoic and ascetic extension of the Blackpill, whose adherents often embrace a more pessimistic and deterministic view of life, particularly focusing on the belief that personal happiness is unattainable due to biological and social factors. Ultimately, the Whitepill provides a framework for achieving personal well-being through the rejection of external desires, societal pressures, and the pursuit of a meaningful life independent of conventional goals. It represents a radical departure from traditional views on happiness, success, and self-fulfillment.

At its core, the Whitepill is rooted in optimistic nihilism, a belief that life lacks inherent meaning, but this absence of meaning allows individuals to create their own purpose and pursue happiness on their own terms. The Whitepill does not strictly adhere to any single philosophical tradition, but it draws heavily from Stoicism, Buddhism, and asceticism. It emphasizes contentment, self-development, and the rejection of external validation as pathways to inner peace. While the Whitepill is most commonly discussed in the context of relationships and the challenges faced by individuals who identify as incels (involuntary celibates), its principles are broadly applicable to all areas of life. The Whitepill has been discussed and developed by various individuals. Notable examples include SergeantIncel, who has written extensively about the subject, and platforms like Elysian Fields have also facilitated discussions on the topic.

Whitepill
The Whitepill is an individualist philosophy which draws upon and is an extension of the Blackpill. It differs from its predecessor by prescribing behavior instead of only describing reality and the world we are living in, as the Blackpill does. While the Blackpill offers a broad scope into the workings of the world in pertains to sexual competition and fundamental inequalities, the Whitepill focuses on the level of individual and aims to enquire how one should proceed after being Blackpilled in light of their own personal circumstances.

The term 'whitepill' always existed in online discourse albeit in a sparse and shifting manner but it wasn't until 2017 when it was formally defined and conceptualized by Incels.is admin SergeantIncel in a series of threads, and later the blog Whitepill.org.

Finding its basis in optimistic nihilism, the Whitepill encourages the maximization of happiness of an individual by acceptance of their situation in lieu of denial or anger, and encompasses ideas including the acceptance and minimization of one's sexual and romantic desires, the restructuring of oneself through the rediscovery of purpose and pragmatically making improvements to one's lifestyle in a way which results in positive life outcomes.

History

Whitepill (ø-pill or Hedonic Null-Set) is a term that emerged from online discussions in the mid-2010s and represents a worldview based on accepting the realities of one’s situation while actively pursuing personal improvement. The term began to circulate around 2017 in online forums where members of incel and related communities discussed their struggles with modern social dynamics. Early discussions appeared on websites such as incels.is , where several threads outlined the basic ideas of the whitepill . In these early posts, contributors argued that while the blackpill often led to despair and resignation, the whitepill offered a way to overcome life’s challenges by accepting them and using that acceptance as a basis for self-improvement.

One of the early voices in these discussions was a user known as SergeantIncel . His contributions helped shape the initial framework by detailing how accepting one’s circumstances could lead to a more pragmatic and hopeful approach to life. However, over time the focus shifted from individual authorship to a broader conversation about how anyone could take control of their destiny through self-discipline, personal responsibility, and realistic expectations. SergeantIncel first established the term’s formal definition and its relation to other “pills ” in three public threads (September 10, September 14, and December 10, 2017) which led to the creation of Whitepill.org—a blog that deeply explored the concept—and after its shutdown, to the emergence of its successor Elysian Fields under Tabula Rasa, Within the forum and PSL, the prominent figure SergeantAutist—often referred to as SergeantSchizo, SergeantAspie, and other epithets—contributed to refining SergeantIncel ’s visualizations.

Although no mainstream philosopher has directly addressed the whitepill , its ideas share similarities with earlier philosophical traditions. Elements of stoicism —such as the emphasis on accepting what cannot be changed and focusing on one’s internal responses—can be seen in whitepill thought. Likewise, some of the ideas parallel existential discussions on creating personal meaning despite an indifferent world. These influences, however, are more implicit, and the whitepill remains largely a product of contemporary online culture rather than a direct outgrowth of any single philosophical work. Over time, whitepill has evolved into a broader cultural reference point, representing a practical approach to personal betterment. It is understood as a call to engage with life realistically, to accept the inherent challenges, and to work steadily towards improvement rather than succumbing to despair.

Optimistic Nihilism

Optimistic Nihilism is a contemporary pop-philosophy term which first originated in online discourse and was later popularized by the YouTube channel Kurzgesagt in 2017. Based on the premise that life lacks objective meaning or purpose, It holds that the lack of cosmic significance is not a cause for despair, but a source of liberation and a reason to be happy.

Definition

The term is a combination between the existing philosophies of Optimism and Nihilism, however it is also closely tied to the previous philosophical traditions of Absurdism and Existentialism.

Starting with the core tenet of Nihilism—that the universe has no inherent meaning, purpose or value, it then applies an optimistic outlook, where if life is devoid of objective meaning, the individual is then free to create their own purpose and values and seek their own personal fulfillment.[1]

Rather than lamenting the absence of inherent meaning in life, Optimistic nihilists celebrate the freedom that comes with it instead, living life on their own terms. Optimistic Nihilism emphasizes living in the present moment and to detach yourself from worries, pains and anxieties, as they don't matter in the grand scheme of things.[2]

Relevancy

The dichotomy between the two philosophies of Nihilism and Optimistic Nihilism also draws parallels to the differences between the Blackpill and the Whitepill. The act of taking the Blackpill shares commonalities with existential nihilism, often leading to a bleak and despairing outlook in what appears to be a cold, uncaring and unforgiving world. This may give rise to feelings of depression, anxiety and hopelessness, an effect which is made more apparent in individuals who have suffered greatly from negative experiences in their life.

In contrast, the Whitepill acknowledges these realities, but also advocates for the restructuring of oneself, encouraging individuals to accept their situation and move on from being emotionally and psychologically affected by the Blackpill. Similar to Optimistic Nihilism, the Whitepill emphasizes the free agency of an individual to pursue self-fulfillment and create their own meaning in life in a way that's best and most suitable for them.

Whitepill.org

Type of site Blog
Available in English
Founder(s) SergeantIncel
Current status Inactive

Whitepill.org was a now-defunct blog created by SergeantIncel which hosted articles about the Whitepill mentality and various avenues that a Whitepiller could take to better improve the quality of their life. Active from December 2018 to December 2021, the site was taken down presumably as a result of the New York Times exposé.

Whitepill.org consisted of blog articles structured as numbered bullet points, each discussing a different topic related to the Whitepill. All in all, the articles totaled a sum of 24 numbered points and an introductory article briefly describing the Whitepill. The topics discussed in the blog had a main focus on recommending and providing an overview of different healthy lifestyle changes an individual could adopt, as well as the occasional reflection on human psychology and the human condition.
