Sorry to say this buddy, but that's a pretty ass midwit take.
Humans are political animals. This is nothing new; in fact, I would say it is more important to experts on the subject than to "normies" who get their information from social media.
Debate is not something new that arose with mass media. You can find records of debates even in pre-ancient Greek writings.

Debate, not only political but also religious, is literally the tool that shapes human thought. It is possible to say that without debate, no science would be developed; at most, we would have some sporadic experiments here and there, but nothing at the level we have developed over the centuries.
At the end of the day, practically all debates are political, since they permeate our social life in the polis. When religion is discussed, the "right" way to live a reality that is not only spiritual but also political is being discussed. Why the hell do you think Christians are so furiously against modern agendas like feminism, abortion, and whatnot? Despite using rhetoric based on religion, it's undeniable that religion itself was the pillar that built our civilization.
By abandoning these pillars, our social structures become fragile, which is why no one wants to give up what made us great. This applies to both sides: both the conservative side, which believes it is important to preserve the values that built our civilization, and the progressive side, which believes that these values hinder or slow down social and technological progress. At the end of the day, the debate is about how to evolve as a society; we only disagree on the means, not the goal.
