That just means we are nearing the end. From John Calhoun’s "Universe 25" (also known as the Rat Utopia or Behavioral Sink experiment).

The Stagnation Period (Phase 3)

Emergence: Around Day 315, as the population growth slowed and the "behavioral sink" (social breakdown) began, this new class of males appeared.c

Behavior: Unlike the aggressive alpha males or the hypersexual "probers," the "beautiful ones" completely withdrew from social interaction. They refused to fight for territory, never sought mates, and never engaged in pup-rearing.

Obsession: They spent their entire lives eating, sleeping, and grooming themselves. Because they avoided all conflict, their fur remained unruffled and free of scars, leading Calhoun to name them for their "perfected" appearance.

And a mix of stage 4

The Death Phase (Phase 4)

Dominance: By approximately Day 560, the "beautiful ones" and similarly withdrawn females made up the majority of the surviving population.

The "First Death": Calhoun famously argued that these rodents experienced a "first death"—the death of their spirit and social purpose—long before their physical death.

Extinction: Because they had lost the instinctual drive to reproduce, the colony entered an irreversible decline, eventually resulting in total extinction despite an abundance of food and water.

Lucky for us our keepers know we arnt rats and can pull the levels to avoid full on stage 4 .

Scientific studies demonstrate that when rats are given a choice between engaging in voluntary exercise (using a running wheel) and consuming cocaine, they often choose the running wheel, or significantly reduce their cocaine intake, especially if they are in an enriched environment.
