The joker, I mean that guy in the comic, the shittest villain ever written.
In the past, joker made sense, but its unwatchable now.
I think batman 2008 made sense at the time, because 911 and "terrorism" was alive in TV watcher families narratives.
In no small part these hollywood movies have contributed to the development of the narrative of terrorism.
Joker has never really been a single consistent "type" of villain. Overall he was a prankster level guy who killed people, doing the clown pranks mocking the death. later he was philosophized and they gave him a pseud type of vibe.
So joker becme a philosophical opposite of batman. But to me, it always felt forced, first because is hard to write a character like joker and a battle of philosophy. And in most instances joker was doing cringe stunts and narrative never explained why police or batman do not discipline him properly.
Like, you could take that joker mofo, and inject drugs and put him into a coma, and more realistically after one or 2 of his pseud stunts, you already lost patience and youre giving him drugs and close him in a mental asylum where no doctor feels romantic fascination for his BS pseud "philosophy".
Harley quinn is the only character that makes sense, because she was said to be a psychiatrist, and indeed this is real. Psychiatrist women do fall for the edgy pseuds especially if they look cool with greenpuke hair and some smudged mascara and some lipstick.
In the past I wanted to break the joker and I went along with the idea joker is a female and sketched a story where mother of batman is the joker, and the story went out of control and at that point was simply full of incoherence. I was mixing up various anime themes, and it didnt really make sense. I also made joker female simply to spite incels, and I had no real motivation, nothing coherent to tell. I just wanted to introduce some political themes. Failed.
Until late, where I had the revelation, and I created joker the zoom toker. https://elysianfields.se/threads/joker-the-zoomtoker-incel-comics.8750/
This tale is good. I already showed it to normies, and they like it. I wrote scripts, and all of them work. The story makes sense now. The story is easy and reproducible, the formula now works.
I fell for the trap of writing a character to simply ract to an audience, in this case is incels. Zoom toker instead works differently, he has one dominant axis I can rewrite over and over. Everything is stable, and philosophy is defeated in every episode. The rule now is simple, all I do in any one of the stories is simply repeat the theme and invent an idea how the character will fail next time.
