yes, why would we not be. We have gentic code, primal insticts, and all the other basic stuff animals have. The only difference between humans and other animals is intelligence, but still this wouldnt ungroup us from the rest of the animal kingdom
I'm going to reject this belief because it hurts my feelings and makes people less morally accountable.

And if so why or why not ?
Yes, because our existence is backed with billions of years of evolution, and all of our predecessors were animals.

Maybe we have achieved a shit ton through our intellect, but just spend even a little amount of time interacting with people and you'll notice your and theirs animal instincts kicking in.

Feels bad to be left out of a friend group? In primordial times we needed a pack or tribe for survival.

Why do we like people who are attractive? Good looks meant better genetic health in primordial times, signifying healthy progeny.

Why do people believing the same ideologies form into a group? Tribal instincts.

So forth.

The only domain the aforementioned might not be true is when applying logic, for example maths and science.

Our basal instincts are overall the same, and will remain the same after human civilization dissipates from Earth.

You have to prove things, in science, not just put a theory out there and let everyone else go to prove it.
Theory is not just conjecture, for something to become a scientific theory, it has to essentially have abundant and near-irrefutable evidence to support it. The only reason why it's not called a 'scientific fact' is because in science, you're encouraged to question everything and not assume you're right all the time, it'd be beneficial if religious people had the same perspective...

that's why evolution is not a theory, it's a conjecture.

You are encouraged to question everything except macro evolution.

No proof for any origin claims that you made all you presented was a speculative story about how we might have originated.

I'm not 100% sure on how Man came to be, but I will say that it's abundantly clear that God separated us from animals by giving us not only intelligence, but critical thinking and the ability to form comparisons. The more of a 'bad' person you are - a dreg of society - the more like an animal you are. All of the 'major sins' that people are told to traditionally avoid are all animalistic traits, especially once you fully succumb to those urges. On a side note; I don't have a real opinion on the 'soul' thing, whether having one is what determines if you're a 'real human' or not, etc. All I know is that there are some people in this world who are very, very unintelligent and might lack the ability to do anything more than be an animal that looks like a human; which is very unfortunate.

Apparently, animals will return to dust as they came once they die; and that is the wage of death for a sinner who knows better and chooses to do the opposite. Willingly becoming an animal or at least abusing your God-given ability to drive those animalistic tendencies is a very basic and simple to understand sin. It's also one of the easiest to fall into and entertain because it feels 'normal'. It's the 'flesh' that we are supposed to 'battle' against. Just because the body you live in has functions and operations that require it to continue existing and to create a genetic line does not mean that you have to obey. It's part of why fasting is a thing at all. Self-discipline. All stems from this separation from being an animal; and yet everyone seems content in justifying their morally relative behavior through this lens.

We are not animals because we have a nous and animals do not. If humans were animals we would live in the order of things, but we always are instead inventing ways to rebel against nature. You could make the argument that we are part of a supposed "animal kingdom", but the fact that we are uncontestedly at the top with no potential end in sight save for our own mistakes is only proof that we are not really part of it.
