Are your dreams realistic or fantastical?

I was talking to this girl and she brought up her dream of "flying over the earth", but I could not relate. My dreams are easily confused with real memories. Last night, I dreamt of going to a lecture and taking notes, then returning home and texting (real-life person I want to be friends with--I dont have their number IRL). I often have exact replays of events that happened before. I confuse the past with my dreams until someone tells me it didn't happen.
However, this wasn't always true. During my childhood, my dreams were incomprehensible and contained fantasy elements such as dragons and angels.
Now, I wonder: are your dreams grounded in reality or fantastical

When I was a kid, I would very rarely have dreams about events that hadn't happened yet. Never anything useful, usually an interaction with someone or just a chain of mundane decisions (Like how I'd handle a minor inconvenience while doing chores) Id remember the dream mid-event and sometimes would do or say things differently (again, not that it ever made an impactful difference)
As an adult, most of my dreams are grounded in reality.
Two recent dreams being: Being driven around an urban area by some russian guy while trying to communicate back and forth with Google Translate. Having a job interview, but the guy showing me around took me to a country road covered in ants to wait with him under a tree?
I stopped having abstract dreams when I stopped doing mushrooms. Usually, they'd be about me being in a desert, which looked like it was made of constantly shifting clay. The sky would look more like a purple canvas held over the landscape, and the air felt warm

Idk my nigga, the human brain is strange

I have very hyper-realistic night terrors where I am being bodily disfigured, going through haunting memories or terrifying scenarios.

I have a phobia that doesn't really have a specific name but is close to a mix of megalophobia with theophobia, I'm not fearful of any old huge thing per-say but specifically the kind of huge unknown being that gives me the feeling that is is something far beyond my comprehension.

Not just a giant, but beings beyond human comprehension observing/looming over the planet and would dream about it very frequently as my most consistent nightmare.

Those ones specifically would feels so hyper-real I would wake up in cold sweats. I swear I would genuinely have true senses in the dream; like feel the wind breeze through me, or taste the air, or feel the ground underneath which makes it all so much worse.

Here are some examples that basically show what I mean, like I said it is a very specific kind of phobia, it needs to feel entirely inescapable and as though I shouldn't even be alive just witnessing it:

Flying is a typical dream. Usually I learn to fly and I realize I learned this secret that nobody else has. My dreams are realistic except the extraordinary parts. Aside from flying things are ordinary except for like I'm having the most adventurous day in my life. With hyenas, tornados and what to do with a dead body?

My most fantasy dream was flying a white chocolate Nazi UFO

Interesting. This is pretty much what cosmic horror is all about. Witnessing incomprehensible beings that are indifferent not due to apathy but because your existence is just that insignificant to them, and that it was something that you were not "meant" to witness but did so anyway.

Sorry you go through this honestly, I can't imagine the idea of cosmic horror literally being my nightmares.

Honestly, my dreams are a mix of fantasy and realism sometimes, but it is not realistic enough such that I am able to tell they are dreams. In fact, most of my dreams these days are invasive in a sense. Idk how to explain it, but while my dreams are not necessarily nightmares, they are also uncomfortable enough such that I abort most of them. Like, I literally go, "Yeh ok, I don't like this. Let's wake up now" and the dream just ends.
