Back then I didn't know internet could be used for anything else besides playing games, it was internet = games. In 2012 we finally got internet at home, but it so happened that exactly then I got into other games besides ones online, and I slowly stopped playing them.

2008-2012 I wouldn't call a golden age. At least not in USA. 2008 was the year that USA sold out to the banks publicly on national TV. Yeah it was great as it was the dawn of memes and stuff.

It was a good time for technology it was around a dark age of videogames. I don't remember clearly. Maybe the dark age ended in 2009 or something. The Internet is really only toxic when you find your opposite political tribe. I would say peak internet was more like 2004-8 and 2012-16 12-16 moreso if racism is important
