Both random and scripted random because everyone is given random stats unlike a videogame that lets you sort them out, scripted because you are going binded to these, environment and circumstances the person who trips in the rain wouldn't if those were different and the chain of events fated by the universe would differ but that would require external aid like in every tale about changing the future there is an outsider or something that changes the events if they stay the same or they were invisible and not even insects would be affected nothing would change...

I tend to view life through a Jungian lens, where existence is a constant stream of synchronicity. It feels as though the moment you truly notice reality, it notices you right back. I like to call that the endless wink.
