Um well I mean life just started for ya.

Since 2018 with very brief periods of study/work. So about eight years.
I've been on disabilitybux since I was 19 roughly for schizoaffective disorder as well as Complex PTSD. I got granted my pension in 2018, when I basically dropped out of my course (but still finished it without attending class or work placement).
Then I worked for a couple of months in 2023 - the pay was good but it was soul-crushing. I made about $10k in about 2-3 months. Got all my tax back because I didn't make enough as it was under the tax threshold. (I believe it's $18,200 in Australia).
Then I studied an Animal-related course in order to become a vet nurse last year. Got a girlfriend, made some good friends, lots happened in that period. Then once I graduated last December after studying for six months, I dropped out of society again. Been a NEET since.
I'll probably study again next year but who knows at this rate. I like being a comfy NEET.

Yeah, I'm currently working on my writing career at the moment. So I'm technically building towards a future, I guess.
I've published four novellas and working on a novel called "A Hikikomori Elegy" - it's an I-novel, which is akin to the style that Osamu Dazai wrote in; same vibe and all.
It'll have intervals of being set in reality where the hikki's life is miserable, and intervals where it's set in an MMORPG, where the hikki's life is amazing. It'll be a stark contrast (which is the name of one of the chapters, actually).
It's a work-in-progress, but it's getting along. I haven't written in a while, though - should probably get back into it.
Anyway, think of it as a Western "Welcome to the NHK" since that's an Eastern novel (as well as manga and anime, I suppose) with more to it and more about gaming addiction and internet addiction.
It's actually gone through a few name changes. The initial name was simply "N.E.E.T. - Not in Education, Employment, or Training." The second title was something else entirely but I forget it now.
I think "A Hikikomori Elegy" is quite a profound and catching title.
