Discussion Humility makes sense, and it is actually intelligent and not slave-morality.

Since you actually are a convergence of an infinitude of causes and conditions, which allows for you to become successful, and furthermore, many actions in flow states are performed without the intervention of a "self", then humility makes sense and avoids ego-inflation.

Ego-inflation is a desillusion that just leads to disaster, because it reinforces a supposedly independent self, and prevents the appropriate cultivation of causes and conditions for success, becomes it deposited all effort into a psychological "I" construct that is only a thought, instead of actions that further cause success.

Guess that with this knowledge you just become conscious of this but don't take yourself too seriously. Congratulate yourself. Be deluded, whatever, but don't take none of this seriously.

"Don't be so humble, you're not that great" - true words
But, you are meant to be humble.
dont take both sides seriously. laugh at the arrogant, laugh at the humble. they are both part of the same drama.

I'm not a Christian.
I don't know dude. But I almost fall into this very simplistic line of thinking that "all you have to do is to be like Jesus and problems solved!" or "love is the answer to all problems". No, I don't think so. It reeks of idealism and it is cringe. I mean, why is it better to be Jesus or Buddha than to be a sadistic psychopath hmmm? According to whom are one of set values better or worse than the other. Rather, I see that for both of these cases these judgments arise based on past causes and conditions. Life is too complex... the appropiation of values happens unconsciously. It is said that thought is a post racionalization machine for actions that the brain already decided it was going to do, and it all happens through this self model generated by the brain, but I don't know what am I even talking about anymore. I just got into some non-duality and buddhism to cope.

I don't know if you are getting my point, but I just want to say that sometimes we get to much into being "humble" or "arrogant" that we don't realize that these things just arise by themselves, and it is just the ego who appropiates it later. So I guess... why to take it so seriously? I understand pretty much that for many different people different set of values are given different levels of importance given by past conditioning, but it sometimes seem as if people are making of empathy or love an ultimate reality, and for me it is simply ridiculous, and don't you think the same could be said about people who say the opposite the opposite... that cruelty or the demiurge are the ultimate reality, or that the world is hell...

Though I have to admit that I'm still too attached to my own set of values though, even though I know they were given to me by past conditioning it is just this body and mind that decided that this was it. It is alright for me I guess, you have you.

The goal, as I see it, is not to achieve a state of humble, loving non-attachment. That, too, can be a cage built by the ego. The goal is to know, with as much clarity as possible, the specific, personal, messy architecture of your own cage.
