I probably come off as a cynical person (though I think I’ve improved a lot in that aspect) from the way I post.

I see myself as a realist and say what’s on my mind even if what I say might be perceived as something stemming from a pessimistic worldview.

Actually, I’m not a nihilist or life-hating person. I think it’s a phase people go through, and staying stuck there is a mark
of emotional immaturity and an indication of someone who hasn’t experienced much or ruminated a lot on these kind of matters.

Living on this planet is probably a net negative overall due to entropy, and there’s a strong case to be made for the drawbacks outweighing the positives in life. In spite of that, I don’t think it’s reasonable to let that negatively affect your emotional disposition and outlook on things.

Notice the landscape of society and media, and how it’s almost as if it’s all designed to keep you in a constant negative energy state.

The things you see getting amplified online are more often than not there to foment outrage, division and mistrust. Artificial inequality and perceived scarcity keeps you in survival mode, reducing you to your base instinct.
All this makes you easier to control and manipulate.

You can’t be in a great, happy mood all the time. Any suggestion to the contrary is simply unrealistic and what may constitute as a form of sham guruism.

There is always a baseline emotional state you generally stay around which fluctuates up and down. What I advocate for is a state of emotional balance, avoiding extremes and harmful states which lead to self-destruction.

Ideally one should try to lift their baseline emotional state, while also reducing the impact and length of depressive periods. This can be achieved pragmatically through the relentless optimization of various aspects of one’s life, ‘maxxing out’ on QoL, essentially.

But the most effective and efficient measures come from when you free your mind from being clouded by negative thoughtforms as a result of changes to your overall mindset and outlook.

I'd like to think I'm not as well. I don't have a particular hatred toward life, and the human condition, more toward this world if anything. As you mentioned, people believe that since there's more negative experiences than positive ones in life, that makes it objectively bad. Or that the human experience is innately suffering due to us never being satisfied. But I don't really see it that way. I've always kept my wants very minimal. I enjoy small pursuits: going for walks and sightseeing, consuming media and art, and while I don't really have a "productive" hobby, I'm considering picking up something in the future. Chasing extravagant materialistic pleasures and lifestyles will almost guaranteed lead to suffering

This is where I would say I'm somewhat nihilist. I'm lazy, dropped out of society to NEET, so I don't really have much motivation to do anything (like pursue a skill or hobby). When I look at the state of society and the world, I feel more and more demoralized. Life is pretty stacked against young men. I frequently wish I'd be reborn so my life might have some meaning in another world. And while it's obvious I should stake my life in the here and now, I never fall through, and return to old habits. In fact, I'm not sure what I want out of life.

100%. People will circle jerk something on social media, despite having no agency to change it. It's just a feedback look of negativity. And I won't lie, I'm a victim of this, even on forums.
