Oh yeah. Consider failure helps in world building. Like you thought you could just probe the illithid mind but it eats you? They are so dangerous and 1 of them can kill many people they are stronger than most vampires
If you need a tank you can try getting that gith grinch chick but i usually just kill her. Later theres a barbarian demon shes not as annoying but i dont like her in my party either. After you rescue the undead guy you can recruit cultists at your camp im sure some of them are tanks.
